It's finally HERE! Our Upcycle Art Gallery will officially be open for business tomorrow, May 1st! I am so excited! We still have plenty of room for new artwork, but we do have a decent amount of stuff already in house. Every day I meet new people that have interesting work to share, and I am so excited about what I am hearing!
If you find yourself in Central Oregon this weekend, come on in and check out the cool stuff we have! Our Grand Opening is on Saturday, May 2nd. I will have some munchies and drinks to celebrate! This shop is definitely a work in progress, much like upcycle projects always tend to be, so keep coming back in to check on us! You just never know what you will find!
I want to give a special shout out to Habitat for Humanity in Bend, Oregon! I spoke with some really great people there that are as passionate about upcycle as I am! I really like that store, and I always score some great deals there! Today, I bought a little mini fridge for my shop. That is also where I bought the customer counter that I painted and tiled for my store. Send me some artists, Habitat!!
See you at Grizzly Ridge Upcycle~ Sisters, Oregon, on the corner of E Hood & Elm! Our sign should be up tomorrow, and you won't be able to miss it! IT'S HUGE! And now, if you will please stand for the National Anthem! Let the games BEGIN!
It's almost here!
We have been feverishly working on the gallery and it is looking pretty great! The jewelry display is up (and quite unusual), we have an iron works display indoors as well as outside, there is a slumped glass display, a soft sculptures display, some crazy wall mounted sculptures, a miniatures display, the awesome welding tank bells, and my painted furniture; (not to mention our beautiful white birch tree!) People have been coming in from the street even though we are not open yet, and they are all very excited about what they see here. We are also getting potential vendors off the street too, so I am excited that there is such a positive response.
We will officially be open for business on May 1st. Please join us for our Grand Opening on Saturday May 2nd, from 10 am to 5 pm. Watch for more updates and photos to follow! Happy Tuesday!
Namaste' weirdos! (You know I say that with love, right?) Now, time out for a happy dance!
We are only two weeks away from opening the Upcycle Gallery Extraordinaire!
I have a lot of artists planning to bring us their work, but not a whole lot in the store yet. It's making me nervous, but it's okay. We will open on May 1st with whatever we have. They haven't had a whole lot of time to prepare, and great products take time.
I have several vendors with really great jewelry. I think I can put together a pretty cool jewelry display using some old wood pallets we have out behind our bunk house at home. (Knew those things would come in handy some day!) We also have a bunch of old bricks, glass bricks, wooden boxes and drawers, a couple of old doors, and some old bed springs. I think several of those items will also find a home in the jewelry department. (Oh no! sounds like The Clampetts are setting up shop! Wish me luck!)
Paula Surmann also brought me her display of tiny little miniatures that are very cool. Small little rooms of furniture and tiny bolts of fabric, and other small arrangements. The miniatures display looks very lonely right now, so I hope we get some more items in soon!
The sign for the store has been ordered, and should be up before we are open. (Crossing fingers!) I found out they are planning to paint the store exterior in about a week, so I am really crossing my fingers that they will be done by the time we open too! Everybody knows our start date, so I just have to let them all do their part!
We have also purchased some great advertising. Grizzly Ridge Upcycle will be included in the 2015-2016 Sisters Oregon Guide. They publish 35,000 copies with local and statewide distribution. It publishes Memorial Weekend, and kicks off the tourist season here. The Chamber of Commerce also uses this in their marketing.
I was also told The Nugget will do a feature about our gallery in the next couple of weeks too! I'll keep you posted about both those things in future posts.
Last of all, I wanted to show you some photos we took at the Upcycle Oregon event last Saturday at The State Capital building. It was a lot of fun, and I got quite a few great leads for future vendors in our shop!
Stay weird! And stay tuned for more updates!
My inner weirdo recognizes and appreciates the weirdo within you! Namaste~
